G*Starr ManagementJ.I the Prince has come a long way since first catching the eye of SoSo Def founder Jermaine Dupri‘s on Instagram.
After appearing on the second season of Dupri’s hip hop competition series, The Rap Game, on Lifetime in 2016, the young Brooklyn rapper is joining forces with Spotify to release a mini doc on his life. The currently untitled feature is a part of Spotify’s Radar initiative, a Global Emerging Artist Program, which “supports artists across all genres and stages of their development.”
The goal of Radar, according to Spotify, is “to harness the strength of our platform to deepen new artist connections to their audiences.”
It’s already been an amazing year for J.I, who’s latest single “Need Me” has over 89 million streams. With his other releases such as “Love Scars” and “Proud of Me,” J.I already has a total over 300 million streams on the platform.
Up next for the 18-year-old Brooklyn native is his new EP, Welcome to G Starr Vol. 1, which drops on Friday, July 17.
