ABC/Arturo HolmesBillie Eilish and her brother/collaborator, Finneas, are expressing their outrage over the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks, a 27-year-old black man who was killed by police outside an Atlanta Wendy’s Friday night.
In an Instagram post accompanying a photo of Brooks, Eilish wrote, “man F***. watching this video made me so f***ing angry. F*** THIS S***. JUSTICE FOR RAYSHARD BROOKS.”
She added, “WHY ISN’T EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT THIS?”
Finneas, meanwhile, shared two photos of Brooks on Instagram, along with the caption, “Justice for Rayshard. This is so f***ed up man. And such a good example of EXACTLY what’s so f***ed up about the police in America.”
“Asleep in his car in a parking lot. Shot to death,” Finneas continued. “Don’t let yourself be numb to this. Don’t let the world stay this way.”
Brooks had reportedly been asleep in his car when police were called to the Wendy’s. After reportedly failing a sobriety test, officers began to arrest Brooks, who grabbed one of their stun guns and tried to run away. One of the officers then shot Brooks twice in the back, killing him.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner ruled Brooks’ death as a homicide.
Officer Garrett Rolfe, who shot and killed Brooks, has been fired, while the other officer on the scene, Devin Bronsan, has been placed on administrative duty. Additionally, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields has resigned.
