Credit: Travis ShinnDisturbed‘s cover of “The Sound of Silence” provides the soundtrack to an affecting new video filmed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The video, uploaded to YouTube by a user named Tiago Teixeira, features footage of cities including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Budapest and Paris under lockdown, all while Disturbed’s Grammy-nominated rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel classic plays in the background.
Disturbed themselves shared a link to the video on their Facebook page.
“Thanks so much to Tiago Teixeira for this amazing and haunting edit of our version of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound of Silence,'” the band wrote.
“Sending our best wishes to everyone all over the world,” the Chicago rockers added. “Stay strong.”
This summer, Disturbed is scheduled to launch a U.S. tour celebrating the — now unfortunately timed — 20th anniversary of the band’s 2000 debut album, The Sickness. The trek is supposed to kick off in July.
